PRODUCT:
Fetal Bovine Serum from South America
Bovine Serum is obtained after removing cellular components from coagulated whole bovine blood by centrifugation. As a by-product from cattle industry, Bovine Serum retrieved from animals of all ages, is used as an essential cell culture medium supplement for maintenance, growth, and proliferation of cells in vitro, as serum is rich in proteins, amino acids, hormones, and growth factors. Fetal Bovine Serum (FBS) is used in a wide range of applications as it is especially rich in growth factors. Moreover, compared to adult and calf serum, FBS is particularly low in antibodies, which may influence cell culture experiments.
This product has been derived from fetal blood collected in South America. It is sterile-filtered and has passed strict quality control that includes mycoplasma detection and virus testing. Fetal Bovine Serum is a natural product and as such there are some batch-to-batch differences. Standard characteristics that are determined are pH, osmolality, protein content, albumin concentration, hemoglobin concentration, and endotoxin level.
