The Real Time PCR detection Kit Carbapenem resistance blaOXA-23 comprises a series of specific targeted reagents designed for Carbapenem resistance blaOXA-23 detection by using qPCR.

GENERAL INFORMATION:Acinetobacter baumannii was usually treated with carbapenems, but resistant organisms have emerged. There are three main mechanisms that A. baumannii uses to resist carbapenems: production of enzymes capable of hydrolyzing carbapenems (carbapenemases), altered function of membrane-associated proteins such as porins, and activation of drug efflux pumps. The most frequent mechanism is the production of carbapenem-hydrolyzing class D β-lactamases, with the blaOXA-23-like gene being the most widespread in most countries. The blaOXA-23 gene can be located either on the chromosome or on plasmids.
