The Real Time PCR detection Kit Carbapenem resistance blaOXA-24 comprises a series of specific targeted reagents designed for Carbapenem resistance blaOXA-24 detection by using qPCR.

GENERAL INFORMATION:Acinetobacter baumannii was usually treated with carbapenems, but resistant organisms have emerged. There are three main mechanisms that A. baumannii uses to resist carbapenems: production of enzymes capable of hydrolyzing carbapenems (carbapenemases), altered function of membrane-associated proteins such as porins, and activation of drug efflux pumps. The most frequent mechanism is the production of carbapenem-hydrolyzing class D β-lactamases, like the blaOXA-24/40 gene. This resistance mechanism has been reported as endemic to the Iberian Peninsula.
