The Real Time PCR detection Kit Clostridium perfringens Beta2 toxin comprises a series of specific targeted reagents designed for Clostridium perfringens Beta2 toxin (cpb2) detection by using qPCR.

GENERAL INFORMATION:Clostridium perfringens is a Gram-positive, anaerobic, spore-forming rod responsible of causing food poisoning. It belongs to the genus Clostridium and it is present worldwide in decaying vegetation, marine sediment, soil, and in the intestinal tract of vertebrates (including humans) and insects. The most common transmission route is ingestion of contaminated food that has been left some time after cooking without refrigeration, enabling bacterial growth. This species is dived in five toxinotypes according to the major toxins they produce: types B and C produce beta toxin. The C. perfringens Beta2 toxin (cpb2) causes enterocolitis in piglets and is highly lethal in neonatal pigs. Vaccination of sows is effective to prevent piglet infection.
