The Real Time PCR detection Kit Clostridium perfringens Iota toxin comprises a series of specific targeted reagents designed for Clostridium perfringens Iota toxin detection by using qPCR.

GENERAL INFORMATION:Clostridium perfringens (formerly known as C. welchii, or Bacillus welchii) is a spore-forming Gram-positive bacterium that is found in many environmental sources as well as in the intestines of humans and animals. C. perfringens is responsible of food poisoning, gastrointestinal disease, gas gangrene and related necrotic conditions in humans and other mammals. This bacterium produces 4 major toxins (named Alpha, Beta, Epsilon and Iota). The Iota toxin is produced only by type E strains of C. perfringens. Although the Iota toxin can cause similar tissue death in infected individuals, infection from type E strains isn’t as prevalent as infections from other strains.
