The Real Time PCR detection Kit Foot-and-mouth disease virus type SAT2 topotype XIV comprises a series of specific targeted reagents designed for Foot-and-mouth disease virus type SAT2 topotype XIV detection by using qPCR.
GENERAL INFORMATION:
Foot-and-mouth disease is caused by a non-enveloped, positive-stranded RNA picornavirus with an icosahedral capsid and highly genetically variable, which limits the effectiveness of vaccination. This is an infectious and sometimes fatal viral disease that affects cloven-hoofed animals. The Foot-and-mouth disease virus is highly infectious and can be spread through aerosols, through contact with contaminated farming equipment, vehicles, clothing or feed, and by domestic and wild predators. Seven serotypes have been described: A, C, O, ASIA1 and SAT3 appear to be distinct lineages, while SAT1 and SAT2 are unresolved clades. The SAT2 serotype occurs throughout sub-Saharan Africa and has made recent incursions into the Middle East from north-east Africa. Recently, an unexpected increase in the number of the SAT2 serotype (XIV topotype) outbreaks have been detected in Iraq, Jordan and Turkey. Design was based on the OIE/FAO Reference Laboratory Network for Foot-and-Mouth Disease.
