GENERAL INFORMATION:Adenoviruses are non-enveloped, icosahedral shaped, double-stranded DNA viruses belonging to the Mastadenovirus genus in the Adenoviridae family. The Human adenoviruses are classified in seven known species, from HAdV-A to HAdV-G. HAdV subgroup G includes the serotype 52 (in a more traditional classification) and is the causative agent of gastrointestinal disease specially in infants and young children. Adenoviruses have been detected in any water source worldwide.
