GENERAL INFORMATION:Salmonella is closely related to the Escherichia genus and are found worldwide in cold- and warm-blooded animals (including humans), and in the environment. Salmonella enterica subsp. enterica sv. Choleraesuis (commonly known as Salmonella Choleraesuis) is a pathogenic Gram-negative bacterium predominately found in the intestinal lumen. It causes sepsis or extraintestinal focal infection in humans and paratyphoid in swine with high mortality rates than other Salmonella serovars. It is also the most prevalent serotype of all Salmonella isolated from diseased swine, causing huge economic loses on the pork producer sector. Description of new serotypes may cross-react with the kit.
