Detection of RNA of the 3’UTR of SDCV (PDCoV)

Background: Swine delta coronavirus (SDCV, also called porcine delta coronavirus PDCoV) is a member of the genus Coronavirus (Deltacoronavirus), family Coronaviridae, and a positive-sense, enveloped, single-stranded RNA virus. SDCV is a new virus first found in pigs in Hong Kong in 2012 and 2014 in the United States. Swine delta coronavirus causes acute watery diarrhea and vomiting in a large proportion at all ages of swine. Swine delta coronavirus infection is clinically similar to, but genetically distinct from porcine epidemic diarrhea virus (PEDV) and transmissible gastroenteritis virus (TGEV).

Description: ViroReal® Kit Swine Delta Coronavirus uses one-step reverse transcription RT real-time PCR for the detection of the 3’UTR of swine delta coronavirus (PDCoV). Our carefully designed primers and probe ensure highest sensitivity and specificity. The test does not detect porcine epidemic diarrhea virus (PEDV) or transmissible gastroenteritis virus (TGEV). The kit consists of an assay mix for the detection of the pathogen as well as a positive control and an internal positive control (IPC). Reverse transcription and PCR can be performed in one reaction well.
